WHO Release Here are 7 Ways to Avoid Spreading the Corona Virus at Work
The world is livened up by a mysterious outbreak of disease from China that can kill someone we know by the name of the Coronavirus. The Coronavirus has spread more or less since the end of 2019 and the World Health Organization (WHO) considers this outbreak as an international emergency health care.
They also provide guidance on how this virus works and how to avoid it. Based on the WHO release, here are some guidelines to avoid the spread of the coronavirus in the workplace, even though none of the employees at the company have been infected.
1. Coronavirus spreads through body fluids
The virus, also known as COVID-29, spreads through body fluids. The spread can be from saliva to sneezing which is touched by the outside of the body and also through breathing. An easy example is you accidentally hold someone’s saliva on the table. The ease of spread is similar to how flu works.
2. Make sure the room where you work and stay clean
WHO explains that the effective way to prevent the transmission of the Coronavirus is very simple: make sure your surroundings are maintained hygienically. That can be done by cleaning the table using disinfectants and providing hand sanitizer in public places that are often used. Remind every employee or colleague to always wash their hands.
Display posters that promote respiratory hygiene. Combine this with other communication steps, such as offering guidance from occupational health and safety officers, briefing at each meeting, and various other opportunities.
3. Prepare tissues and masks
One important thing that every office needs to provide is the supply of tissues and masks. Make sure both items are available and give them to those who have runny noses. It is also important to have a closed trash can as a place of disposal because clean airflow and good environment prevent the spread of COVID-19
4. Raise people’s awareness of the Coronavirus
One thing that is felt important by WHO is the awareness of the space against this deadly virus. Showing posters about respiratory hygiene will help understand this.
5. Rest the body if the body is not fit
One way to spread the Coronavirus is through coughing. For those who are not feeling well, it is better to rest at home and take drugs such as paracetamol. Fear is a symptom of COVID-19 infection.
6. Avoid traveling for a while
WHO recommends not going abroad or traveling for a while, including for work and companies should also understand this. If it is required, make sure that the go is a healthy person and has checked the list of Coronavirus areas that have been affected by the outbreak. This can be seen through the WHO website.
Employees who have returned from the area where COVID-19 spreads must monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days and the temperature twice a day. If they suffer from a mild cough or mild fever (with a body temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius or more), they must stay at home and be isolated.
This means avoiding close contact (1 meter or even closer) with other people, including family members. They should also call their health care provider or local public health department, giving details of their trip and recent symptoms.
7. Don’t discriminate against those who are infected
If you notice any Coronavirus symptoms suffered by a colleague, immediately separate the person into an isolated room and immediately report the local health apparatus. Keep away from discrimination and support them through this disease.
Fighting the Coronavirus is no different from fighting disease in general. The important thing is that you understand correctly how to maintain body hygiene. It’s good not to panic about this case.
