The United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26) will be held in Glasgow in November, and it is expected to intensify efforts by the world’s largest polluters to combat climate change, a threat that environmentalists, experts, and world leaders believe will potentially threaten the earth.

“I expect his presence would be a very powerful voice leading up to and through the Glasgow conference, which I believe he plans to join,” Kerry said after meeting with the Pope.

The Vatican provided no immediate evidence of this.

“Since he is outside politics and outside of the hurly-burly of day-to-day national strife,” Kerry said, “I hope he will shake people up a little bit and get them to the table with a stronger understanding of our mutual responsibility.”

Kerry is in the midst of a week-long journey to Europe, interacting with government officials and corporate executives in Italy, the United Kingdom, and Germany, as well as the Vatican City, in preparation for the summit. more details
